Run Free Dalkeith is a private secure dog field operation in Midlothian, roughly six miles south-east of Edinburgh and easily reached via the A7 or A68. Three bookable enclosed fields let dogs run off-lead in a controlled, safe environment – handy if your own garden isn't cutting it. Book a 30-minute slot online and pay by the number of dogs using the field.
The Middle Field sits about 70 metres from the car park, so you won't be hauling gear far. Each field has shelter, a picnic table, running water and poo bags on hand, plus bins to keep things tidy.
Some fields include a dog shower, which is excellent if your dog has decided to rediscover every muddy puddle between here and home. It's a straightforward, practical setup that makes it easy to give your dog proper off-lead time without the stress of open common land.
