That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

A proper “this is Cambridge” kind of experience. Rutherford’s Punting is all about seeing the city from the water — drifting past the famous College Backs, under iconic bridges, and into corners you simply don’t get from the streets.

You’re not just floating along either. The guided tours bring the whole thing to life, with stories, history, and the kind of local insight that turns a pretty view into something much more memorable. Whether you go shared or private, it’s a relaxed, slightly indulgent way to slow everything down for an hour and just take it all in.

The boats themselves lean comfortable rather than basic — think proper seating, space to stretch out, and even the option to bring drinks along for the ride. It’s one of those rare activities that works just as well for a laid-back wander day as it does for something a bit more occasion-worthy.

And yes — dogs are welcome on board. So this becomes part of the day out, not a logistical headache. Settle in, let the city glide past, and enjoy a slower, river-level version of Cambridge with your dog along for the ride.
