That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Sandford Park in Cheltenham is the kind of place where the walk gently unfolds without much effort. The dog wanders ahead, the paths wind a little, and suddenly you’ve drifted into something quieter just off the edge of town.
Tucked at the end of the High Street, this dog-friendly park in Cheltenham blends two distinct feels. One side is more open and social, with space for picnics, games, and a large play area near the lido. The other leans more ornamental, with carefully planted gardens, benches, and water features that slow everything down a notch.
Follow the paths through and you’ll find cascade pools leading towards the River Chelt, where ducks often gather (and occasionally attempt swimming lessons). There’s a surprising amount tucked into the space, from Italian-style gardens and fountains to quieter corners that feel a world away from the town centre.
It’s not a big, dramatic park. It’s a layered one. The kind you pass through… and then realise you’ve stayed longer than planned.

Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome throughout Sandford Park, where they’ll likely take a strong interest in the ducks and water features. Just keep them under control, especially around wildlife, busier areas, and picnic spots.
