Scotney Castle

Scotney Castle is a National Trust estate near Lamberhurst in Kent, about 23 miles from Rye by road, where dogs on short leads are welcome across the picturesque garden, parkland and estate walks. The romantic moated Old Castle ruins, woodland trails and open grounds make it a generous day out for owners who want history and scenery without leaving the dog behind. Your dog can join you in the shop and outside tea-room seating areas, so refuelling mid-ramble is straightforward.

The mansion house and walled garden remain assistance dogs only, but the rest of the estate offers plenty of sniff-worthy territory and the kind of photogenic backdrop that makes tangled-lead negotiation worthwhile. An official car park is on site and advance booking is required. National Trust members park free; non-members pay.

Garden, estate walks, shop and tea-room open 10:00–17:00, house 11:00–16:30 and Old Castle 11:00–13:45. Dogs must stay on short leads throughout.
