The Secret Garden at Quex Park in Margate has more of a hidden-gem feel than a big retail garden centre, tucked within historic Victorian walls and leaning into a calmer, browse-friendly atmosphere. Dogs are welcome inside, so this is a proper plant-browsing outing rather than a one-of-us-waits-outside situation.

It's a family-run nursery and garden centre with plants, garden accessories, gifts and strong reviews for knowledgeable, helpful service. Expect leafy aisles, a few highly unnecessary but fully justified purchases, and a dog who acts like they personally approved the whole garden centre.

A good stop for people who like garden centres with more charm, less warehouse feeling and a proper sense of place, with paws and people browsing together.
