Serenity sails from Seahouses Harbour year-round, serving up big Farne Islands scenery, seabird chaos, grey seal spotting and proper Northumberland sea-air drama from stable catamarans with plenty of viewing space. Trips vary by season, from non-landing wildlife cruises such as the Grey Seal, Seabird, Puffin and sunset sailings to a longer Holy Island day trip, which cruises the Farnes before giving passengers time ashore on Lindisfarne.
Because Serenity runs several different tours with different timings, routes and dog allowances, this is definitely a “check the exact sailing before you book” kind of adventure. The sea doesn’t care about spreadsheets, snack plans or carefully arranged holiday itineraries, so schedules can shift with weather and conditions.
Top Tips: Arrive early for boarding passes, as Serenity advises around 20–30 minutes depending on the trip. Wrap up warmly even in summer, because boat breezes have absolutely no respect for your outfit choices. If you’re aiming for a specific route or bringing a dog, check the exact sailing before booking so you know what’s allowed and what to expect.
Did you know? Serenity has a very dog-friendly heart behind the scenes too. During a trip to Inner Farne, skipper Jimmy Reid and crewman Aaron Fordy helped rescue a German Shepherd after an inflatable kayak was blown out to sea in strong winds. They spotted the kayak, found the dog still alive inside, then managed to haul him safely aboard after a terrifying slip back into the water. Wrapped in towels, warmed up and soon wagging again, he was later reunited with his owners back at Seahouses Harbour.
That kind of calm thinking, care and determination is exactly why Serenity is a Recommended Partner on The Dog Friendly Map. One rescue boat, one very relieved dog, and one harbour reunion nobody there is likely to forget.
