Shropshire Hills Discovery Centre sits just outside Craven Arms, about eight miles north of Ludlow and makes a proper half-day stop for dog owners exploring the borderlands. Inside the Centre you'll find exhibitions on the Shropshire Hills landscape, a café and a shop, but only guide dogs are allowed in the building itself.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome in the large riverside meadows that surround the Centre, giving you space to stretch legs, let them sniff and enjoy the setting without the indoor squeeze. The meadows are the main draw for ordinary pet dogs and they're open daily from 10:00 to 17:00 alongside the Centre.
On-site parking is available, which takes the guesswork out of arrival. Keep your dog under control in the meadows and on a lead where site guidance asks and you've got a straightforward, scenery-backed visit that keeps everyone together outdoors.
