Southwell Minster and Archbishop's Palace

Southwell Minster is a magnificent Norman cathedral in Southwell, Nottinghamshire, just under 12 miles from Nottingham and one of the few historic attractions where well-behaved dogs on leads are genuinely welcome inside. The Minster itself, the Archbishop's Palace ruins and the surrounding gardens and grounds are all open to dogs, making it a proper heritage day out for you both. The Minster is famous for its Romanesque architecture and intricate stone carvings, while the 14th-century Archbishop's Palace offers peaceful ruins and the Sensory Gardens provide a calm green space for a wander.

General admission is free with suggested donations, though some special events and tours may be ticketed. Opening hours are Monday to Saturday 10am to 6.30pm and Sunday 10am to 4.30pm, with the Palace and Sensory Gardens open daily 9am to 5pm.
