That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Set just outside Carlisle in Cummersdale, The Spinners Arms feels like the kind of pub you end up staying longer than planned. It’s a cosy village freehouse sitting right on the Cumbria Way, which means muddy boots (and paws) are very much part of the rhythm here.
Inside, it leans into that proper local pub energy. Real ales, relaxed corners, and a steady mix of walkers, regulars and people who just came in for “one” and clearly miscalculated. There’s a homely, no-fuss feel to it, the kind of place where the reset happens naturally after a long stretch outdoors.
It’s exactly the sort of stop that slots perfectly into a dog day out. Walk, wander, then land somewhere warm where everyone can settle properly.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Treats available
Doggy Menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome inside — ideal after a Cumbria Way stomp. Expect a relaxed, walk-friendly vibe, but keep them close and settled, especially when it’s busy. 🐾
