That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Springhead is one of those postcard-pretty Dorset pubs that feels tailor-made for a slower stop. Tucked into Sutton Poyntz beside the village duck pond and close to the White Horse, it combines cosy corners, open fires, alfresco dining, and a large garden with countryside views. Dogs are welcome inside and out, which makes it particularly useful after a long walk when nobody wants to split the pack. It has that classic village-pub magic where a quick drink can quietly become lunch, pudding, and an extended debate about whether anybody really needs to move at all.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside and out. This is exactly the sort of village pub stop that works beautifully after a walk, especially if the dog can collapse politely and not narrate the whole event.
