St Catherine's Hill Nature Reserve

St Catherine's Hill is a chalk-grassland nature reserve just outside Winchester, crowned by the earthworks of an Iron Age hillfort and the ruins of a medieval chapel. It's a striking open-air destination for dog owners who want historic interest, wide views over the city and countryside and proper countryside terrain without a long drive. Dogs are welcome on lead or kept close by throughout the reserve to avoid disturbing grazing livestock and ground-nesting birds.

The hillfort ramparts and summit paths offer plenty of sniff breaks and exploring and the open grassland gives you both space and the chance to keep an eye on your dog around wildlife-sensitive zones. The reserve is open all year, 24 hours a day.
