St Edmundsbury Cathedral

St Edmundsbury Cathedral is a working cathedral and heritage visitor attraction right in the heart of Bury St Edmunds. Dogs are welcome on lead throughout the Cathedral site, including the main Cathedral visitor areas, making it an unusually inclusive stop for town-centre history days out with the dog. The Ancient Library is the one excluded area.

The Cathedral is open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5pm and Sunday 12.30pm to 3pm, with entry by donation. Its location on Angel Hill places it at the centre of Bury's Abbey and heritage quarter, so you can tie the visit into a wider walk around the town's dog-friendly streets and green spaces.

There is no on-site visitor parking, but Angel Hill car park sits directly opposite the Cathedral and Ram Meadow and Parkway public car parks are nearby. The combination of accessible opening hours, on-lead indoor welcome and central location makes it a surprisingly practical all-weather destination when you're exploring Bury St Edmunds with the dog.
