St Mawes Castle is a coastal English Heritage fort with a dog-friendly policy that keeps everyone together across the grounds and courtyard. The site sits near Truro in St Mawes, accessible by ferry from Falmouth or via on-site parking with a steep walk up to the entrance. Dogs are allowed on leads across the site and there's a dog bowl waiting at the main entrance for paws who've tackled the approach.
The castle offers historic interiors, coastal views and on-site interpretation, alongside a shop and toilets for a proper visitor destination. It's open daily with advance booking available through English Heritage and parking charges apply to non-members. The lower car park has ample space plus disabled bays, making arrival logistics manageable with leads and bags in hand.
This is a handy dog-first day out near Truro, combining castle exploration with coastal setting and ferry options for those building a longer Cornwall itinerary. The lead requirement keeps things calm and the courtyard and shop access mean you can browse together without the usual heritage-site restrictions.
