Stonehenge

Stonehenge is the world's most famous prehistoric monument, standing on Salisbury Plain near Salisbury in Wiltshire. Dogs on leads are welcome in selected outdoor areas around the visitor centre and across the National Trust open access fields, making it possible to visit this extraordinary heritage site with your dog in tow. The Stone Circle itself, the Monument Field, the exhibition and the visitor buses are all out of bounds for ordinary pet dogs, so plan for a shorter stop focused on the grounds.

On-site parking is available, with a £4 charge for non-members. The car park and visitor centre area give you enough space for a lead-and-bag stop before or after exploring the wider Plain and the open access fields offer a glimpse of the ancient landscape without venturing into the restricted monument zone.

Open daily from 9:30 am to 6:00 pm, Stonehenge works best as a quick detour for dogs whose owners want to tick off an icon without leaving them behind. Just remember that the real draw—the stones themselves—remains off-limits, so set expectations accordingly and enjoy the fields instead.
