Talkin Tarn Country Park is a managed outdoor destination on the outskirts of Carlisle, set around a glacial lake with woodland trails, open grassland and water sports. Dogs are welcome throughout the outdoor country park grounds, making it a proper day-out choice when you want space, scenery and a change from pavements. The park is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, so early-morning or late-evening visits are never a problem.
There's an on-site car park run by Cumberland Council, which is wheelchair-accessible and chargeable. The site also offers orienteering, woodland walks and seasonal events, though indoor areas such as tearooms and exhibitions have not been confirmed as dog-friendly. Dogs should be cleaned up after throughout the park.
No specific lead requirement was evidenced, but keeping control near the water, picnic areas and other visitors is expected common sense. For Carlisle-area dog owners after an easy, all-weather escape with proper facilities, Talkin Tarn delivers.
