Talyllyn Railway

Talyllyn Railway is a heritage narrow-gauge railway running through the beautiful Ffrwd Valley in mid-Wales and dogs are welcome aboard in 3rd Class carriages. Your dog will need a ticket, but once aboard you can enjoy a seven-and-a-half-mile journey through wooded valleys and hill farmland together. One carriage per train is kept dog-free and first class excludes dogs, so book accordingly.

Dogs are also welcome in the station buildings and the railway's dog-friendly cafes at Tywyn Wharf, making this a genuinely practical day out rather than a watch-from-the-car-park situation. The railway operates daily from April and the shop, cafe and museum are open daily from 09:00 to 15:00. Guide and assistance dogs are welcome everywhere.

Parking is available across the bridge over the mainline railway at Tywyn Wharf Station. The Talyllyn is around twelve miles from Aberystwyth and has been welcoming passengers and their dogs since 1865, making it the world's first preserved heritage railway.
