Tapps Conwy is a compact micropub tucked down an alleyway off Lancaster Square in the heart of Conwy, where real ale enthusiasts and dogs are equally welcome inside. Set in a former ice cream factory, it's the sort of place where a spaniel can settle at your feet while you work through a rotating selection of cask and keg beers — and the low-key taproom vibe means a quick stop between castle rambles never feels rushed.

The taproom opens Wednesday to Sunday from noon until 10pm, with 24 cask and keg lines on offer including up to six cask ales and a large fridge selection of British and continental beers. Gluten-free options are stocked when available, but supply varies, so check with the team if these are essential to your visit. The easy central location makes it a natural pit stop when navigating Conwy's walled streets on foot.

No on-site parking, but that's Conwy — park once and walk everywhere, with Tapps sitting handily within sniffing distance of Lancaster Square and the rest of the town's dog-friendly pubs. A good shout for a wet afternoon when the castle walls have done their worst.
