A proper backstreet pub just off Mill Road where things feel a bit more local, a bit more relaxed, and a lot less polished. The Alex (The Alexandra Arms) is one of those places you head when you want good beer, solid food, and zero fuss.

Beer is a big part of the story here, with a rotating mix of ales, craft, and ciders that changes often enough to keep things interesting. Food leans heavily into homemade burgers — the kind that are generous, slightly messy, and very much worth showing up hungry for.

Inside, it’s got that classic two-level pub feel with a laid-back buzz, while outside there’s a proper garden space that comes into its own when the weather behaves. It’s friendly, a little rough around the edges in a good way, and built for settling in rather than rushing through — whether that’s a quick pint or a full “we’re staying here now” kind of stop.

Dog Policy:

Dogs welcome inside on lead. Please keep pups settled, especially during busy evenings.
