The Ancient Briton is a classic Newton pub in Porthcawl where dogs are welcome inside. You'll find it open daily from midday, with food served throughout the day and evening, making it a practical choice when both ends of the lead need feeding.

The pub holds its own as a village local while serving beach walkers, Newton Green strollers and anyone whose dog has decided the coastal path deserves a second lap. Indoor dining is confirmed, so the whole group can settle in together while your dog supervises proceedings from under the table.

It's open Monday to Wednesday noon until 11pm, Thursday to Saturday noon until midnight and Sunday noon until 10.30pm. There's no need to leave anyone outside while you grab a drink or a meal and the dog-friendly welcome means you can plan your day around proper sit-down stops rather than juggling leads and takeaway cups on a bench.
