The Bay Horse is a warm, traditional inn and pub on Blossom Street, just outside Micklegate Bar and an easy wander from York station. Dating back to the 17th century, it carries that classic old-pub charm without feeling heavy, helped along by a south-facing beer garden, on-site rooms and a layout that makes stopping here feel simple rather than strategic.

Dogs are not just welcome here, they're actively encouraged, with water bowls, free treats and a general "the more the merrier" attitude from the team. There are also two resident dogs on site, quietly (or not so quietly) running their own social club and always up for meeting new arrivals.

It's the kind of place you land when you want York to feel easy, pints in hand, fresh air within reach and just enough history in the walls to give it a bit of soul. A very easy yes for bringing the dog along. 🐾

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside. Historic pub manners are the order of the day, so keep the lead tidy and the beer garden behaviour golden.
