The Beehive is a traditional Whitley Bay pub with a proper soft spot for dogs. Dogs are welcome inside in the dedicated dog-friendly area, where water bowls are plentiful, house dog treats are ready behind the bar and there are even extra dog treats and drinks available to buy. This is somewhere that doesn’t just allow dogs through the door, it is genuinely pleased to see them.
Food is served daily, running from midday into the evening most days, with service until 8:30pm Monday to Thursday, 9pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 6pm on Sundays. There’s also on-site parking, making it an easy stop when you’re arriving with dogs, leads and the rest of the travelling circus.
Sitting just inland from the coast, The Beehive works particularly well before or after a beach walk. With a warm, down-to-earth atmosphere and a clearly enthusiastic welcome for four-legged visitors, it’s the kind of pub where bringing the dog feels completely normal rather than something you need to ask permission for.
