The Bishop's Palace & Gardens is a historic palace and walled garden in the heart of Wells, set beside the Cathedral and moated by natural springs. Dogs are welcome throughout the gardens on a short lead, where they can join you for a circuit of the medieval ramparts, wide lawns and the famous well pools that gave Wells its name.
Dogs are also welcome inside the Bishop's Table Café on a short lead, so you can settle in for lunch or a cup of tea without leaving them outside. The Palace buildings and Chapel remain off-limits to ordinary pet dogs, but the gardens themselves make a proper day out, with enough space for a long sniff and plenty of historical atmosphere.
Open daily from 9:30am to 5:30pm, with public car parks within walking distance of the Palace entrance. Day tickets and annual passes are available and there's no need to book ahead for your dog.

Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome throughout the gardens and in the Bishop's Table Café on a short lead (maximum 2 metres). Dogs are not allowed inside the Palace buildings or Chapel, except assistance dogs.
