That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Bricklayers Arms in Shrewsbury is a Joule’s Brewery taphouse on Copthorne Road with proper pub atmosphere, real ale, pub food and dogs welcome inside. Following a refurbishment in August 2024, the pub now features a covered courtyard, shuffleboard, darts, a real fire and a front beer terrace that sits at the heart of the local community. Dogs are welcome everywhere, which means nobody needs to wait outside while someone else orders.

Food is served from 12pm to 9pm Monday to Saturday and from 12pm to 6pm on Sunday, with Sunday roasts available until 5pm. The menu covers classic pub fare, and the overall feel leans into traditional neighbourhood-pub energy rather than anything polished or performative. The beer garden and covered outdoor areas add breathing room when the weather cooperates.

Solid choice for straightforward pub comfort, a slower pint and a dog settling in like they already know the regulars. The sort of place that feels grounded, local and usefully dog-friendly without making a fuss about it.
