That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Bridge Inn Ruswarp sits just outside Whitby in the village of Ruswarp, right by the river, making it one of those easy “just out of town but worth it” stops that quickly turns into a regular. It’s a classic pub setting with a relaxed, welcoming feel, the kind of place that works equally well after a walk or as a destination in its own right.
There’s a strong dog presence here too, not just tolerated but genuinely part of the place. With water bowls, treats and a full dog menu available, it’s clearly set up for four-legged visitors, and the fact they even run a dedicated Instagram for their visiting dogs says everything about the vibe. It’s one of those pubs where dogs don’t just come along… they’re remembered.
Good to know:

Dog Policy:
Dogs are very welcome here and very much part of the experience. There are water bowls ready, free treats on hand and even a dedicated dog menu, so they’re well looked after from the moment they arrive. It’s a place that genuinely leans into being dog friendly, with plenty of regulars and even its own “Barkers” Instagram celebrating visiting pups 🐾
