A proper Cambridge pub that keeps things simple and does them very well. The Champion of the Thames is split across two rooms — a cosy snug for quieter moments, and a warmer, livelier bar space with a fire and stools where the atmosphere ticks along nicely.

Beer is very much the main event. The ale lineup is taken seriously here, with a reputation built on quality and consistency rather than gimmicks — the kind of place where people come specifically for what's on tap and stay because it delivers.

It's full of character too, with that rare "regulars table" energy that tells you everything you need to know. Friendly, welcoming, and easy to settle into, with dogs very much part of the setup — expect water bowls, treats, and a warm welcome waiting at the bar.
