The Counting House in Cleethorpes is a dog-friendly bar and restaurant set in a former bank on Sea View Street, where dogs are welcome inside. High ceilings, original features and a converted bank vault give the space a polished, slightly theatrical feel that works just as well for a daytime visit as it does for an evening that stretches out a little longer.

The menu covers light lunches, sharing plates, pizzas and more substantial dishes, alongside a strong cocktail offering. There's often live music, events and dancefloor nights too, so the atmosphere shifts from relaxed to lively depending on when you arrive. It's the kind of place you go when you want to make a bit of a thing of it, with food and drink that backs up the drama.

Dogs can settle in alongside you in surprisingly grand surroundings, which means nobody needs to do the pavement shuffle while you enjoy cocktails and converted vaults. It's polished, social and occasion-worthy, with enough going on to suit paws that are happy to watch the room from a good spot.
