The Cove is a compact country freehouse in Fairlight, just east of Rye, with a cosy bar and a proper kitchen turning out lunch and dinner most of the week. Dogs are welcome inside, so the whole group can settle in without drawing lots for pavement duty.
The kitchen serves pizza on Tuesday evenings from 4pm, lunch and dinner Wednesday to Saturday and Sunday lunch until 4pm. Expect straightforward pub food in a freehouse with regular hours and a warm welcome for walkers.
The Cove is useful for anyone heading to the Firehills, the coast path or the lanes around Fairlight. It's closed Mondays and opening times vary across the week, so check before you set off if you're planning a post-walk pint.
