That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Engineer's House in Cambridge is a slightly hidden riverside pub beside the Cam that feels like you've wandered off the map in the best possible way. Dogs are welcome inside, so nobody needs to do the pavement-waiting shuffle while you settle in for slow afternoons, long drinks, and "we'll just stay for one more" energy as rowers drift past and the city hum fades out.
Expect craft beer, wood-fired pizza, and plenty of space to spread out — from benches by the water to covered spots when the weather does its usual thing. It leans relaxed and social, with a bit of that sun-trap magic when the light hits just right, making it useful for wet-weather refuge or post-walk resets that accidentally turn into an evening.
Perfect for losing track of time with a pint and a dog settled under the bench, this is riverside Cambridge at its most easy-going. Dogs slot in easily here, and so will you.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Treats available
Doggy Menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome inside on lead, so everyone can settle in together. Just keep paws clear of bar stools and the busier lanes — nobody wants a tail-wagging traffic jam.
