A proper backstreet find that feels like you’ve stepped into someone’s slightly eccentric, very welcoming living room. Tucked away off Mill Road, this is all about character — music memorabilia on the walls, vinyl menus, and a hum of conversation that makes it feel instantly lived-in.

Inside, it splits between cosy real-ale pub and laid-back dining space, with an open fire for colder days and a courtyard garden when the weather behaves. Expect well-kept beers, bold pub food (including their well-known “hot rock” dishes), and the occasional live music night that lifts the whole place a notch.

It’s the kind of place where you come for a pint and end up staying because something’s happening — music, food, or just the general buzz of it all. Dogs slot in easily here too, part of the background rhythm rather than an afterthought.

Unpolished, creative, and quietly one of those “wish we’d found this sooner” pubs.
