The George & Dragon in Fordwich sits right on the banks of the River Stour in Britain's smallest town, surrounded by history and that soft waterside calm that makes everything slow down. Dogs are welcome inside in the bar area, so nobody needs to do the pavement shuffle after a riverside walk.
Inside, it leans fully into cosy pub charm, with log fires, tucked-away corners and a welcoming bar at the heart of it all. The food brings a modern British touch, with seasonal dishes sitting alongside hearty pub classics, so you can go comforting or a little lighter depending on the mood. The pub opens Monday to Saturday 11:30am–11pm and Sunday 11:30am–10:30pm, with a car park opposite for customers.
It's the kind of place where you settle in properly, whether that's after a wander along the Stour or as a destination in its own right. Dogs can join you in the bar while you warm up by the fire or claim a spot under the table, which keeps paws and people together where it counts.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Free treats available
Doggy menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome inside in the bar area, so you can relax with a pint while your dog settles under the table. Keep them on a lead and on the floor rather than the furniture.
