The George & Dragon is a community pub in Hudswell, just outside Richmond, where dogs are welcome inside the bar and dining area. That straightforward access is the detail that turns a quick drink or meal into a genuine break for the whole group.

It's the sort of place where you can turn up after a walk along the Swale or through the surrounding countryside and settle in with a proper pint while the dog supervises proceedings from under the table. Food is served Thursday to Sunday, with hot meals available Thursday and Friday evenings, Saturday lunch and evening and a Sunday roast served from noon until 4pm.

The pub opens from 3pm on weekdays and from noon at weekends, so there's plenty of scope for pairing a drink or meal with a day out exploring the Richmond area. That simple inclusion is especially useful when the weather turns or the day needs a proper sit-down pause.
