The Golden Slipper feels like one of York’s proper old-pub survivors, with a strong sense of history and a more intimate, characterful atmosphere than a polished modern bar. Its Goodramgate setting puts it right in the middle of old York, but the appeal sounds more rooted pub than tourist conveyor belt, with good beer, quiz nights and a warm welcome all part of the draw. It is exactly the sort of place that suits a slower pint in a building that has seen a fair bit of city life pass by its windows.

Good to know:

Water bowls available

Treats available

Doggy Menu available

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside. Old pub charm and good dog manners go hand in hand, so keep paws grounded and pub snacks un-raided.
