The Halt Coffee Shop is a family-run independent café on Millstrood Road in Whitstable, just off the Crab and Winkle Way, where dogs are welcome inside for coffee and cake. Named after the old railway halt that once stood next door on the historic Canterbury–Whitstable line, it's a natural pit-stop for walkers and cyclists making their way in or out of town.

The menu covers artisan coffee, toasties, home-baked cakes and a range of iced drinks, and the café also stocks handmade crafts — handy if you want something to take home beyond a full stomach. Dogs can settle at the table while you refuel, so there's no pavement-waiting shuffle for anyone in the group.

Open Thursday to Saturday, 9:30am–3pm, and closed Sunday to Wednesday — worth keeping in mind when planning a Crab and Winkle Way outing. A compact schedule, but a well-timed one for a weekend walk.

Good to know:

Water bowls available

Free treats available

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside, so paws and people can refuel together after the walk. A genuinely dog-friendly stop on the Crab and Winkle Way.
