Indoor Welcome Last Verified:

23 Oct 2026

The Heron Inn is a riverside gastropub on Trenhaile Terrace in Malpas, on the outskirts of Truro, where well-behaved dogs are welcome inside for a drink or a meal. It looks out over the point where the Truro and Tresillian rivers meet the Fal, and visitors can arrive by car, bike or boat.

Chef-owner Nick Hemming builds the menu around seasonal South West produce, with a strong focus on fresh, sustainable fish and seafood, daily specials and Sunday roasts. Tea, coffee, cakes and pastries are served from 9.30am, and the full menu and specials run from midday until 9pm. A breakfast menu runs from March to September, but not on Sundays. Ales come from St Austell Brewery.

A riverside path leads from Malpas to St Clement and on to Tresillian, so the pub fits easily into a waterside walk, and parking nearby is very limited. The building has no disabled access or disabled toilets. Groups of more than 10 book by phone, with a deposit and a pre-order, and food and drinks for the outside tables are ordered at the bar.
