The Hive is a lovely Ripon stop for dog owners who want a café break that feels easy, local and properly homemade. This independent Queen Street coffee shop serves homemade food, cakes and drinks, and dogs are welcome inside, which makes it a strong choice when the dog has done a fair bit of town wandering and everyone needs a gentler pause together.

It suits that sweet spot in the day where the lead goes slack, the humans finally sit down, and the dog flops with the satisfaction of someone who has absolutely nailed their sightseeing duties. The Hive is open Monday and Wednesday to Saturday from 9am to 3:30pm, and Sundays from 10am to 3pm (closed Tuesdays). The homemade menu and relaxed atmosphere mean nobody feels rushed or overly polished.

For visitors exploring Ripon with a dog, The Hive adds a cosy, low-key reset to the route. Think coffee, cake and a dog quietly acting like the best table companion in Yorkshire.
