The Hound Lounge

The Hound Lounge is a dog-friendly coffee house with a very clear mission: make life genuinely lovely for both people and paws. Based in New Earswick, it pairs fresh brews and homemade cakes with a properly dog-centred setup, then layers in grooming, events and classes to create something that feels far more like a little canine community hub than a standard café. It’s warm, cheerful and purpose-built for dog people who don’t just bring the dog along, they plan the stop around them.

Dogs are at the heart of everything here, with the kind of welcome that goes well beyond a bowl on the floor. Expect fuss, treats and a whole menu made just for them, including sausage rolls, pork and apple cookies, beef and cheese bites, waffles, brownies, peanut butter bones and puppuccinos. There are dog beds set up with toys ready to go, plus a small shop area stocked with treats, toys, leads, collars, bandanas and bowties. It’s very much a place where dogs are expected to settle in and stay a while.

The location adds even more to it, with fantastic walks right on the doorstep, from riverside paths you can follow for miles, to wooded stretches, open fields and quiet spots with benches for a proper pause.
