The Magdalen Arms is a well-loved Oxford pub with a food reputation that makes it feel a little more special than an ordinary stop-off. Alongside well-kept ales and lagers, the pub serves good coffee, huge doorstep sandwiches, weekday focaccia and a daily à la carte menu, with a set lunch and supper hour adding to its appeal.
For dog owners, it works beautifully when the walk deserves more than a token snack and the human would quite like the meal to be part of the treat. It is thoughtful, grounded and full of substance.
