That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Old Buoy Inn is one of those Seahouses spots where the dog clocks the sea air first, then immediately tries to march you straight inside like it owns the place. It's a newly established independent inn on the edge of the harbour village, with big Northumberland Coast views that include the Farne Islands opposite, Bamburgh Castle in the distance, and Holy Island peeking out on clear days.
Food is the headline here. They lean hard into "sea to table", with lobster and crab caught from their own Mary May fishing boat, plus seasonal local produce and the kind of menu that makes you forget you were "just popping in for a quick one". They serve breakfast (8–12), then food through from 12–8pm, so it works for early walkers, rainy-day grazers, and post-beach "we've earned this" dinners.
If you're turning it into a proper stay, they've got seven en suite rooms with sea views, built for that smug moment where you're drinking coffee while the dog stares meaningfully at the horizon.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Treats available
Doggy Menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome in the bar and outdoor areas, so nobody needs to do the restaurant shuffle. If you're staying overnight, some rooms are dog-friendly—just confirm when you book so paws and people can settle in together.
