The Old Fat Ox

The Old Fat Ox is a proper coastal-edge pub in Holywell, within easy reach of Whitley Bay and the surrounding walks toward Holywell Dene.

Dogs are welcome inside, so you can settle in together after a muddy stomp along the clifftops or through the countryside. The pub serves food every day and your dog can join you at the table while you eat. Opening hours run from midday through to 11pm most evenings and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, giving you plenty of flexibility for lunch stops, afternoon pints or end-of-walk suppers.
