The Perky Peacock is one of York’s more distinctive café-bars, tucked beside Lendal Bridge in a medieval tower where the setting does a lot of the magic before the coffee even arrives. It mixes speciality coffee, cakes, brunches and evening drinks with a wonderfully atmospheric backdrop, making it feel far more memorable than a standard city-centre café stop. The riverside location and historic bones give it a slightly hidden, almost storybook quality, which makes it a lovely place to pause when you want York to feel a little extra York.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome inside. Medieval tower chic calls for calm café-bar manners and no attempts to claim the best window spot by force.
