The Portland Arms in Cambridge is a traditional English pub with real depth, serving well-kept ales, global craft beers, and proper home-cooked food in a relaxed, friendly setting. Dogs are welcome inside the pub bars on leads, so everyone can settle in together without the pavement-waiting shuffle. There's been a pub on this site since the 1880s, with the current building dating from the 1930s—full of character and quietly steeped in history.
Inside, it splits into distinct spaces depending on your mood—from the saloon bar with its real fire, wood panelling, and main dining area, to a more tucked-away public bar with craft beer and a full-size pool table. Outside, the courtyard beer garden adds another layer, with covered, heated seating and a BBQ setup that keeps things ticking over year-round.
It's the kind of place that works whether you're settling in for food or just easing into a few drinks, and dogs can join you in the bars and garden. A proper all-rounder that balances cosy, social, and just enough character to keep things interesting.

Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome on leads in the pub bars and beer garden, keeping paws and people together. They can't come in during live events—volume and trampling risk mean it's safer to sit those ones out.
