That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Quarry is one of Shrewsbury's easiest wins for a dog-friendly outing. This 29-acre park sits inside a big loop of the River Severn and gives you loads of room for a proper leg-stretch without leaving town behind. Dogs are welcome throughout, and the riverside setting makes everything feel a bit more scenic while the open space gives dogs the chance to sniff, wander and decompress after navigating busier streets.

It works brilliantly for slower morning strolls, picnic-style pauses and those "we'll just do a quick loop" plans that quietly become the backbone of the day. The paths are easy to follow, and the green space is generous enough that you can let the walk unfold without feeling rushed or hemmed in by traffic.

This is the kind of place that earns repeat visits because it asks very little of you except decent shoes and a willingness to keep walking once the dog decides they are absolutely not done yet.

Dog Policy:

Dogs are welcome in the park, which makes this one of the easiest Shrewsbury outings going. Expect riverside wandering, plenty of sniffing, a good leg-stretch and at least one moment where the dog decides the walk is not remotely finished yet.
