Days Out Are For Dogs Too

Right on Whitby’s harbour front, The Ship is a proper no-fuss pub where the plan is beautifully simple: grab a drink, find a window seat and watch the world wander by. It has that classic seaside-pub energy, with locals and visitors dropping in for a pint, a coffee or a slow pause overlooking the harbour.
The view does plenty of the talking here. Boats come and go, people drift along the waterfront and a quick stop can very easily stretch into another round while everyone watches Whitby carry on outside.
Dogs are welcome inside and they are clearly part of the pub’s everyday rhythm, with plenty of regular four-legged visitors among the crowd. That combination of harbour views, unforced atmosphere and a genuinely relaxed dog welcome makes The Ship exactly the sort of place worth knowing about.

Dog Policy:
Dogs are very welcome here and very much part of the regular crowd. There are water bowls inside and out, free treats on hand and even a dog menu, so they’re well looked after from the moment they arrive. The only rule is paws stay on the floor (no seats), but beyond that it’s an easy, friendly space where dogs quickly feel like locals 🐾
