That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

Right on Whitby’s harbour front, The Ship is one of those proper no-fuss pubs where the plan is simple: grab a drink, find a window seat, and watch the world wander by. It leans into that classic seaside pub feel, with a steady mix of locals and visitors dipping in for a pint, a coffee, or a slow “we’ll just sit here a minute” pause.
It’s all about atmosphere and that unbeatable people-watching spot overlooking the harbour. It’s also clearly a bit of a dog favourite, with plenty of regular four-leggeds in the mix too.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Treats available
Dog menu available
Dog Policy:
Dogs are very welcome here and very much part of the regular crowd. There are water bowls inside and out, free treats on hand and even a dog menu, so they’re well looked after from the moment they arrive. The only rule is paws stay on the floor (no seats), but beyond that it’s an easy, friendly space where dogs quickly feel like locals 🐾
