The Snickleway Inn in York is a historic pub on Goodramgate that wears its age comfortably, specialising in real ale, live music and a good-time atmosphere. Dogs are welcome inside, so nobody needs to do the pavement-waiting shuffle while the humans enjoy a pint in one of York's more characterful old drinking spots.

The pub has the feel of a place where the building itself is part of the attraction, with history in the walls and a more intimate, rooted atmosphere than a larger bar. It's styled for real ale and a bit of life in the room rather than modern polish, which suits the old-York flavour.

A good fit for anyone who likes their pint stop with character and a dog who's happy to settle in a cosy corner while the humans soak up the atmosphere and the ale list.
