The Split Chimp Ale House in Whitley Bay is a compact, cosy micropub tucked under Spanish City, with a strong Great British beer focus and dogs welcome inside. The one-room setup keeps the atmosphere intimate and easygoing, so paws and people can settle in together without anyone doing the pavement shuffle.
With hand-pulls, keg lines, wines, spirits and outdoor seating in the mix, it feels like a very solid stop for a quality drink by the coast. Pub snacks are available if anyone needs crisps or pork scratchings to go with the beer. It suits beer lovers especially well, but the overall mood still feels approachable rather than specialist or stern.
The coastal location and indoor dog-friendly welcome make it a useful wet-weather stop when the sea air turns damp and everyone needs somewhere warm to dry off with a decent pint.
Good to know:
Water bowls available
Free treats available

Dog Policy:
Dogs are welcome inside, but it's a strict paws-on-floors policy and leads are required at all times because space is limited. Keep things calm and nobody needs to shuffle outside.
