A proper Cotswold pub with a bit of presence, The Suffolk Arms sits in the heart of Cheltenham's "Suffolks" area, blending traditional charm with a more food-led, gastropub feel. Dogs are welcome inside, so nobody needs to do the pavement-waiting shuffle while someone else scans the menu. It's the kind of place where you walk in expecting a pint and end up settling in properly.

Inside, it's all rustic warmth and open, sociable space, with a large bar area and a layout that works whether you're popping in or staying. There's a strong focus on British cooking done well, with seasonal dishes and a well-loved Sunday roast that regularly pulls a crowd. The building itself is Grade II listed, which gives it that slightly grand, characterful feel, but it's still relaxed enough to feel like a local rather than a special-occasion-only spot.

There's also a courtyard for warmer days, plus a steady calendar of events and that low, happy hum of a place that people return to again and again. It's a bit elevated, a bit cosy, and very easy to settle into with a dog at your feet.
