The Swinside Inn is a dog-friendly pub and inn tucked just outside Cockermouth on the edge of the Lake District, a handy pit-stop when you're heading toward the Newlands Valley or coming back with muddy paws and a hungry crew.
Dogs are welcome inside the pub, so the whole group can settle in together by the fire while the kitchen sorts lunch or dinner. The menu covers familiar pub favourites and the dog can supervise from under the table while you work through yours. Food service runs lunchtimes and evenings Monday and Thursday to Saturday, with an all-day Sunday session until early evening; the kitchen closes Tuesday and Wednesday, though the bar stays open for a drink.
It's the sort of stop that works when you need proper food, indoor seating with the dog and a chance to thaw out after a Lake District walk without splitting up the party.
