That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Three Legged Mare sounds lively, social and very much part of York’s pub fabric, sitting on High Petergate with a strong reputation, a central location and plenty of affection from regulars. It comes across as the kind of city pub people return to for atmosphere as much as drinks, with quiz nights, events and that busy, familiar feel that usually means a place has found its people.

Right in the heart of York, it feels well placed for an easy pint with a bit of buzz around it, with water bowls ready for dogs and treats available in exchange for a small donation to York Rescue Boat. A proper “stay for one, stay for longer” sort of place.

Good to know:

Water bowls available

Treats available

Dog Policy:

Dogs are very welcome inside, with water bowls available and treats on offer for a small donation to York Rescue Boat. Just keep them comfortable in a busy pub setting and all is good.
