That’s our way of flagging the places that go further — beyond “dogs allowed”, with a genuinely warm welcome for dogs inside.

The Vault is a lively, all-day pub sitting right on Buxton's marketplace, blending a bright, modern bar feel with a bit of local history (yes, there really was a bank vault here once). Dogs are welcome inside, so nobody needs to do the pavement-waiting shuffle while the rest of the group settles in. It's the kind of place that shifts with the day — coffee and breakfast in the morning, relaxed food and drinks through the afternoon, then something a bit more upbeat once the evening rolls in.

Food leans into solid British favourites done properly, from all-day breakfasts and toasties to burgers and Sunday roasts, all made fresh to order using local ingredients. There's plenty going on too — quizzes, live sport, bottomless brunch and weekend DJs — so it works just as well for a casual lunch as it does for a full "we're staying out now" kind of night.

Right in the centre of town, it's an easy, reliable stop where you and your dog can settle in, refuel, and let the day stretch out a bit longer than planned.
