There's something about a lakeside setting that instantly improves your mood, and The Wateredge Inn leans into it beautifully. Perched right on the shore of England's most famous lake, it's the kind of place where you grab a seat on the waterfront terrace and suddenly "just one drink" turns into "shall we order food too".

It's not only about the view though. They serve delicious, home-cooked pub food all day, every day, so whether you've been hiking, lakeside strolling, or simply doing the very serious work of browsing Ambleside's shops, you can refuel properly. If you're staying over, it's got the full pub-stay setup, including cooked breakfasts, comfortable rooms, and on-site parking, which feels like a small miracle in the Lakes.

Dog people are well looked after too. There are designated dog-friendly areas in the pub and restaurant, with water bowls and treats available, including options from Sir Woofchester's. For overnight stays, pet-friendly accommodation is offered in the annex building, The Windermere Rooms at The Wateredge Inn, while the main inn's rooms are generally kept pet-free, so it's worth flagging your dog at booking time.
